Description
Joe seems like an unlikely name for a peacock but he was an unusual fellow. He was a descendant of the Peacocks that graced one of the now abandoned estates on Long Island New York. Joe lived in the heavily wooded area behind my house where he was more than likely born. I would see him hovering at the wood's edge waiting for the sound of my cookie bag. He would come running, than stand fluttering his feathers which made a loud startling sound. Joe would do this until he got his cookie.

That's a stunning drawing, Ben! I really enjoy your artwork, it's amazing!
Ben Kotyuk replied:
Thank you for your kind comment. I like drawing an animal that I spent some time interacting with. Some of their personality becomes infused in the painting. Because of that they seem more life like. Thanks again for your comment. Ben

Wow, great story and great pastel work. I originally thought it was a photo!
Ben Kotyuk replied:
Thank you Barbie for your comment. It is a true story. Joe was there as long as we owned the house.

Your detail is amazing and I do feel the nature of the Peacock. Beautiful!
Ben Kotyuk replied:
Ginger, thank you for the comment. He was a very loud funny guy, but still very regal.

It looks like you have studied peacock anatomy because I can see/feel the weight of the bird and his underlying muscles and bone structure! Very nice job!
Ben Kotyuk replied:
Janel Thank you for for you comment. Joe came around for quite a long time. It,s amazing how much we retain without even knowing!
